Does your CMO know that IT matters? Marketing is one of the few remaining functions in an enterprise where IT has not yet been fully leveraged -especially with the proliferation of new digital platforms. There are islands of automation supporting Marketing. Yes, there is CRM for managing Customer relations, but this is more in support of the Sales domain than Marketing. So there is no “ERP suite for Marketing”, so to speak, that encompasses all evolving Marketing activities, from stem to stern in a digital marketing world. The Marketing function needs help. It is at about the same spot as Supply Chain Management found itself in the early 1990s – when there was no consistent perspective framework and terminology; and no “ERP suite for Supply Chain Management”. Today’s empowered customers are also more informed, and therefore, more powerful and demanding than at any time in the past. And this trend will only continue, tilting the play-field in favor of the customer….with more information available to the customer in real-time, at the point-of-offer or purchase, wherever and whenever.

So, what are some of the strategies that your Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is defining and implementing? How are you, the CIO, responding, supporting or leading such a transformation in your business?

In April, the SoCal SIM Spring Forum focuses on this all-important topic.

Laying a foundation for the evening, and a framework to sort through this increasingly important area for ANY organization, will be Dr Dominique “Mike” Hanssens.

Mike is a world-authority on quantifying the impact of Marketing investments. He is currently the Bud Knapp Professor of Marketing at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management, where he has been on the faculty since 1977. Mike will share his insights, stemming from his work as the Executive Director of the Management Sciences Institute (MSI), wherein he combined theoretical constructs with in-field learning, working closely with the CMOs of some of the world’s best-known Brands.

This will be followed by a fire-side chat, hosted by Ashwin Rangan, the Chief Products Officer for MarketShare Partners, and formerly, CIO for Wal-Mart global.com. Joining Ashwin will be Jennifer Sepull and other senior Tech Execs from leading B2C Brands in SoCal.

As VP & CIO, Jennifer Sepull emphasizes the importance of thought leadership, innovation, communication, teamwork, and the value of a strong partnership between the Information Systems Division and the Honda business units. She is responsible for leading all the teams that develop and support business applications, technology infrastructure, information security and the development of technology strategies/solutions for Honda's many business divisions; Auto (Acura & Honda), Motorcycle, Power Equipment, Marine Equipment, Parts, Service, Enterprise Applications, Dealers Systems, Finance, Human Resources/Administration, American Honda Finance Corporation, and Honda’s Business to Customer Websites. Jennifer also serves as the acting Chairman of Honda’s Americas Information Systems Committee (AISC) and is an active member of the Honda Global Information Systems Committee (GISC). These committees help Honda to collaborate and leverage Information Services across Honda’s Global Enterprise.

Please join us for some great insights, terrific networking opportunities, and fresh perspectives for a new decade.
